Hello! Welcome to our new Chat page.
We haven’t started our chats yet because we are testing the yellow Chat box.
Suggest a topic
Since you’re here, I’d like to get some ideas about what topics my readers like to chat about. Maybe you have an interest that you could put forward? Go to my Contacts tab and you can let me know.
In addition, I wonder how many 60+ people would like to join an online Book-club? The title of the book would be posted a month in advance of the chat and the chosen book would be one that is available online. Also it would be a novel without too many pages.
When you decide to join a chat, follow the steps below:
- Type your comment in the lower box
- Press the Enter key
- Your comment will show in the upper box
- Others will see it and respond
- Type your reply in the lower box and press enter.
Don’t worry if you can’t type well.
Take as long as you need to type your message. Don’t press Enter until you are ready.
Why chat online?
Making friends online can help you to stay well. Not only that, it’s fun!
We’re all retirees here
All of us here are over 60, and many of us are probably in our 70s 80s and 90s. First of all, you should look for people who have hobbies and families that are like your own. They can help you to stay interested in life and have something to look forward to, because you will have common interests. As a result, you will be able to find friends to support you when you need them.
Loneliness can kill you
As we get older, we all run the risk of isolation and loneliness. Friends pass away. Long-term neighbors may move on. Children leave to get on with their own lives. Similarly, other challenges in life, such as failing health, might slow us down. There may come a time when we can’t get out and about so easily. So now is the time to make friends online.
Wherever we are, we do not have to be lonely. Isolation often leads to loneliness and depression. It can even kill us. So let’s put our tablet or smartphone to good use by keeping in contact with online friends. It won’t matter where we are.
Finally, if you can’t type at all because of arthritis or other illnesses – watch this space. We are looking at adding audio and video chats so that everyone can take part.
